Truth be told, Jill McGrath probably isn’t going to like this story. Never one to seek out the limelight, Jill is content to stay behind the scenes and quietly do the little things that help Emporia Presbyterian Manor fulfill its mission.
This is exactly what makes her an unsung hero.
A team member for 18 years, Jill is Presbyterian Manor’s one-person medical records department. From ensuring that each person’s medications are accurately entered into the computer system, to working with insurance companies and government agencies to meet ever-changing guidelines, she plays a critical role in Presbyterian Manor’s ability to provide exceptional care.
“Jill deserves to be recognized as an ‘unsung hero’ because of her efforts to ensure our documentation is a direct reflection of the type of quality services we provide to our residents,” said Leigh Ayers, health services director.
Known for her dedication, expertise and attention to detail, Jill is the type of team member others have learned to both respect and rely on.
“She always goes that extra mile to be sure that her job is completed and that she lives up to her Christian values when dealing with staff and residents,” said Maria Lane, director of social services. It is that commitment to her Christian values that many believe makes Jill a perfect fit for Emporia Presbyterian Manor.
“The reason behind what she does is a true belief in the PMMA mission of providing quality senior services guided by Christian values,” said Ayers. “This is more than just a job for Jill. It’s her mission.”
Between endless piles of paperwork, a constant stream of phone calls and time-consuming documentation, Jill’s job can be both stressful and overwhelming—but you’d never know it. From offering advice and hands-on training to providing a constant source of positive energy, Jill makes everyone else’s day a little better.
“Even when you know she is busy, she still manages to smile,” said Caitie Stineman, human resources director. “And Jill’s smile is contagious!”
Thank you, Jill!
